The Mark Makers Moments Volume 1 is the first glimpse in print of the families we serve, the beauty we capture and the stories we both live and tell. Designed as a quarterly series each volume released will share more of the work we do through imagery and essay. This work exists to honor and inspire the families we serve and those who love them.

The all new Mini book is filled with the same compelling images and stories in a lighter weight paper and smaller format.

8x10 available in both hard and soft cover: $30-$45

*All profits from the sale of this series will go towards continuing The Mark Makers mission.*

grey|tful

The grey|tful line is inspired by baby Greyson, a Heart Warrior whom we documented in 2018. We first met little Grey Squirrel (as he was known to those who loved him dearly) on Christmas Eve, his sweet smile was one we looked forward to documenting as he grew. Sadly Greyson passed away in February, The Mark Makers was there to capture some of his final moments in the arms of his incredible mother Amy. Proceeds from this line will go towards making sessions like his possible for the families of Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital where he received treatment.

2ND HOME

The 2ND HOME line is inspired by Founder Alissa McDonald’s daughter Riley…the original Mark Maker. Riley has spent much of her 6 years of life within the walls of UCSF, upon arrival (be it by car or ambulance) she happily exclaims “2ND HOME!!!!” Her team at UCSF has become family, selfishly The Mark Makers serves as an excuse for Alissa to visit the staff she grew to love. Riley is currently thriving and loving life outside of her 2nd Home. Proceeds from this line will go towards funding The Mark Makers program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals where her life has been saved time and time again.

yasss sister

The YASSS SISTER line is inspired by SCID warrior Elsie. Founder Alissa McDonald was 2 weeks into her journey at UCSF with her daughter Riley when she got a new neighbor in the hospital PCRC unit. Kate and Alissa were each others rocks during their girls battles with SCID, becoming the best of friends…no more like sisters. Elsie’s triumphant discharge from UCSF was actually the first official Mark Makers session. Elsie “Sis” Brooks is now a thriving first grader proving that SCID picked the wrong kid. Proceeds from this line will go towards funding The Mark Makers program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals where Elsie received her life-saving bone marrow transplant.

Riley & elsie

On Riley’s discharge day the doctors allowed Elsie to step out of her respective hospital room bubble so the girls could meet for the first time. Years later they enjoy summer days filled with endless splashing, laughter and horseback riding.
